Pre-Season Website Checklist for Dive Centres and Boat Tour Operators
What to check on your site before the season opens: prices, calendar, capacity, a test booking, languages, photos, legal details and your Google Business Profile.

This is a step by step list for dive centres and boat tour operators in Kaş, Kalkan, Kemer, Alanya and Side to check their website before the season opens. It covers what to look at in each area, from prices and the calendar to a payment test, languages and legal details, along with the points that are often missed. Print it and tick it off with your team.
Why before the season?
The marine season is short and intense. In May your team is on the boat, the jetty and the dive sites, with no time for the website. Many foreign guests plan their holidays in winter, and anyone checking your site between January and March who sees last year's prices or a trip you have dropped will move on to someone else. Aim to finish the check in winter, at least a month before the season opens.
1. Trips, courses and prices
- [ ] Trips and courses you will not run this season are removed or closed for sale
- [ ] New trips have their own pages
- [ ] Prices are current in every language and currency
- [ ] What is included (lunch, equipment, transfer) is correct
- [ ] Departure point, time and return time are current
- [ ] Age limits, swimming requirements and level information are clear
Dive centres should also check course contents, training agency details and instructor certification levels.
2. Calendar and capacity
- [ ] Season opening and closing dates are in the calendar
- [ ] Closed days such as maintenance, private events and public holidays are entered
- [ ] Capacity is set for every trip and date
- [ ] Clashes between private charters and daily trips are checked
- [ ] Students per instructor limits are reflected in dive course capacity
- [ ] Seat allocations for platforms and hotels are agreed
We cover keeping capacity right across all channels in our tour capacity management article.
3. Booking and payment test
Do not skip this step. A flow that worked last year can fail this year because of a change at the payment provider or an expired setting.
- [ ] A test booking is made on a real phone using mobile data
- [ ] A payment is tried with a foreign card
- [ ] Deposit and balance are calculated correctly
- [ ] The confirmation email arrives in every language and does not land in spam
- [ ] The email shows the meeting point, time and balance due
- [ ] The test booking is cancelled and the refund is tested
- [ ] Someone on the team is clearly responsible for booking notifications
4. Languages and currencies
- [ ] New trips exist in every language, with no half-translated pages
- [ ] The cancellation policy is written in every language
- [ ] Prices display correctly in the guest's currency
- [ ] The language switcher leads to the same page in the other language
Russian and German are strong in Kemer and Alanya, while English dominates in Kaş and Kalkan. Look at last season's enquiries by language and set priorities from there.
5. Photos and video
- [ ] Photos of boats you no longer use and staff who have left are removed
- [ ] New boats, new equipment or a refitted deck are photographed
- [ ] Videos are compressed and open quickly on a phone
- [ ] Every image has a meaningful description
6. Legal details
- [ ] If you trade as a licensed agency, your TÜRSAB license number and trade name are on the home page and in the footer of every page
- [ ] The KVKK privacy notice and cookie information are current
- [ ] Distance sales, cancellation and refund terms are published
- [ ] The medical statement form asks only what you need and obtains explicit consent
A medical statement is special category personal data under Turkey's data protection law (KVKK), so ask your legal adviser about the form. We explain where and how to show the license number in our TÜRSAB license number article.
7. Google and local visibility
- [ ] Season opening hours on your Google Business Profile are current
- [ ] Your harbour or office location is marked correctly
- [ ] Phone and WhatsApp numbers are current
- [ ] New season photos are added
- [ ] The website link goes to the right page
- [ ] Trip page titles and descriptions are written for searches such as "Kaş diving" or "Kemer boat trip"
8. Technical checks
- [ ] Domain and hosting renewals do not fall in mid-season
- [ ] The SSL certificate is valid
- [ ] There is a current backup of the site
- [ ] Pages open quickly on mobile
- [ ] The contact form and WhatsApp button work
9. Team preparation
- [ ] It is clear who uses the panel and for what
- [ ] New staff know how to close a trip and update prices and times
- [ ] The steps for closing a date and telling guests after a weather cancellation are written down
- [ ] Hotel receptions and guides have your current link or code
What gets updated during the season?
Big changes after the season starts are risky. Day-to-day work should stay limited to prices, times, capacity and closed days, and someone on the boat or at the harbour should be able to make those updates from a phone in a few taps. Leave design, new sections and structural changes until the season is over.
We describe a setup where most of the jobs on this list are done from one panel on our page about a season-ready tour website.
Summary
A pre-season check takes a few hours and prevents many problems later. With current prices, a correct calendar, a tested payment flow and a team that knows the panel, you can focus on the sea. Repeat the list at the same time every year. If you would like help getting your site ready for the season, get in touch.
Frequently asked questions
When should I start the pre-season website check?
Winter is the easiest time. Once your trip schedule and prices are set, aim to have the site up to date before January to March, when foreign guests plan their holidays.
How do I run a test booking?
On a real phone using mobile data, pick a trip as a guest would, enter a group size, pay and check that the confirmation email arrives. Then cancel the test booking and try the refund.
Can I keep using last season's photos?
Yes, if the boat, equipment and team are the same. Always remove photos of a boat you no longer use or an instructor who has left; guests will notice at the harbour.
What should I watch for with a medical statement form?
A medical statement is special category personal data under Turkey's data protection law (KVKK). Keep the form to the questions you need, obtain explicit consent and store it securely. Ask your legal adviser for the details.
What should I update on my Google Business Profile?
Check your season hours, harbour or office location, phone and WhatsApp number, new photos and the link to your website.
Should I make big changes to the site mid-season?
Ideally not. Mid-season, daily updates to prices, times and capacity should be enough; leave design or structural changes until the season ends.
